Pinterest Inspired Weekend
I did a lot of work out side this last weekend, and not much scrapping. So I thought I would share with you what I did make. Last summer I attached some wire planters to my deck. You know the kind with the tightly woven straw that holds in the dirt. Well this is what mine looked like after the birds got-a-hold of it this spring.
After spending some time on Pinterest I found this site that shows you how to replace your straw or coco mats with burlap. You can find that site Here. Because my wire basket was such an odd shape I couldn't find anything to fit, so this was perfect for me.
I purchased one yard of burlap at Wall-Mart for $2.95. This burlap is not a tightly woven burlap, so I decided to line it with the leftover straw. If you don't have this I recommend you line yours with a paper bag so you won't lose dirt when watering.
This is the end result and it worked out great, I'll have to keep you updated with pictures this summer.

Happy Mothers Day
I hope everyone is having a happy mothers day. I finally finished my mothers day presents for my mother and mother-in-law. The soap turned out wonderful. The packaging was another story. I tried to stamp flowers with alcohol ink, it worked but it was too light. So I just used Trendy Twine and some Washi Tape.
Washi Tape will not stick to the parchment paper but will stick to itself.
Added a soap dish, tulle, and antique seem binding, and the gift is complete.

Mothers Day Gift
Today's post is not scrapbook related but is crafty all the same. I have been working on two projects this week. First is Mothers Day and the second is for my daughter Lauren.
Thanks to Pintrest I decided to make Lemon Soap for our mothers, and It was so easy. I am not going to post how to pics, because you can find it all on Pintrest. Just search homemade lemon soap.
This soap smells so good!
And looks pretty too!
I will post pics and how to make a parchment paper for the gift package later this week.
Next is all about Lauren!!!! She has been doing so well in school this year so I wanted to do something special for her. I made her a necklace with my scraps from the Authentique paper line "Grace"
Needless to say it was a big hit and she has asked me to make more for her. How can I say no?
So once again I will be posting more pics and how to make this later this week.

Carta Bella Paper and Sizzix Dies
Today I have made two cards, one card is a Mothers Day card and the other is a encouragement card. I have used Carta Bella Paper Line "So Noted" and Sizzix Dies for both cards. First I would like to talk about the Carta Bella Paper. This paper line is new to me and I just love it! It is a heavy textured paper that is good for crafting, not just scrapbooking. And with one quick fold you have a sturdy card.
With Carta Bella (and with most paper lines) you can get a sheet of coordinating die cuts and stickers. this makes card making vary simple.
This encouragement card is made with using just paper and the die cut stickers.
The card base is made with Sizzix Pop-in-Cuts Circle Label die and more die cut stickers from C. B. So Noted.
For the mothers day card I used Sizzix Circle Flip-its Card Die.
And Sizzix Flower Layers die. Then inked the edges with vintage photo ink.
Put it all together and pop-dot the flower.
The inside of the card has a nice spot for your own sentiment.

Authentique "Grace" paper line
Last week I received A prize pack of paper from Authentique. So my goal this week is to show everyone the possibility's of this line. Today I have made a Mothers day card.
First I cut my card at 41/2 x 12 and I used Tim Holtz Plaque & Postage On The Edge Die to cut the edge. Then I scored the card 4" and 8".
On the left side fold I used Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers Photo Corners, Baroque. And this gave the card a perfect closer.
I cut a slit in the right side fold for the ribbon and tied a knot in the front of the card.
I used My Creative Time Scalloped Stitched Heart Die. I love the layers of this die. Pop dot the green heart. And tied a knot with some antique seam binding.
This paper line has some nice matching chipboard tags. And this makes card making vary easy.
I used my Cricut to cut some flowers. I used the Lovely Floral Cart. Flower 4-s cut at 41/2", 4", 31/2" and 2". Glimmer Mist and curled the petals.
And finally the front of the card is finished.

My Minds Eye Layout
Today I would like to show how to make a nice layout with paper that has built-in embellishments.
when I am in need of a quick layout I like to use My Minds Eye Paper, Lost and Found Two.
This paper has glitter, stamps and lines for journaling. All you would have to do is mat some of your pictures add some stickers and you would have a professional looking layout.Of course I had to do a little more that that. If you want more details of this proses you can check out my Instagram link. I am entering this layout in the My Minds Eye April challenge. your pics have to be about an April fools joke or something funny. I chose the funny.
We spent Easter with my dad at the nursing home. And I told dad to give me a better smile not a smirk. Of course he had to argue with me that this was his best smile. I told him you are not smiling unless you have your mouth open. And this was his response.
Just imagine a vary long and loud groan coming from him!!! The picture is blurry because I was laughing so hard. He showed me! And I love Laurens response.
